As a researcher, educator, practicing designer, and humanist, I seek to expand my work beyond narrow categories such as motion design, communication design, and interaction design. Rooted in public scholarship—intellectual work that seeks to produce a public good—my research activities are motivated by a desire to make connections: between theory and form, process and outcome, people and communities. Consequently, I use design methodologies as a tool for cultural understanding, and technology as a medium.
